The super fun events of the day!

This morning I went to take my car into Blain's Farm & Fleet to get new tires. I was going to get them yesterday but the bank had a hold on my funds because of a $2,000 check I recently deposited.

Anyhoo, somewhere between my home in Hudson and Farm & Fleet in Cedar Falls I lost my wallet. The cities are about 15 minutes apart, and I have no idea where or how my wallet slipped out of my purse!

My car was already getting the tires put on when I was at Walmart with my mom and kids and I realized I didn't have a wallet anymore!

My mom gave me her keys and I drove home to see if I could find my wallet, only to find out that my keys were at Farm & Fleet with the dang car! I had to break in to my apartment through my bedroom window and climb onto my daughter's bed. :(

Well no sign of the stupid wallet. And it's not hard to find, it's a big, flat, black wallet with shiny black zebra stripes on it.

I left home and went back to Farm & Fleet to look in my car. (Maybe, if I was lucky, my wallet was on the floorboard in the front seat!) NOPE! All I had with me was my checkbook, but no ID to verify my identity. To make matters worse, when I went to pay for the tires, the cashier wrote my current address on the checks and crossed out the old one.

The lady that came to verify my check told me never to cross out information on my checks and write in new information because it makes the check look fradulent. I said "Your clerk did that, not me." And the cashier just stood there and stared off into the distance like I was lying and trying to pull one over on their business.

WHAT A GREAT BEGINNING TO THE DAY!

This all took place before 10 o'clock this morning........

Now it's 4:20, the kids have already taken their nap, I have gone to the bank and gotten a new debit card, went to the DOT and got a new ID, well a temporary ID until the new one gets mailed to me........that is another part of the story that just grinds my gears. Ugh.

Went to the bank, had to cancel my debit card, wanted them to make a new one on the spot with their debit card machine and he told me to go to a different branch. Went to that branch and they told me I needed an ID first......would've been nice to know from the other branch that I would've needed that before I wasted my time going there. Waited for a half hour with my 2 kids, ages 3 and 4 at the DOT for a new ID, went to another branch which was extremely busy, got the new debit card. Whew.

I had to call 3 different numbers to get new medical cards, a new Iowa Debit Card (for FIP) and a new foodstamp card. All of these I will not get for another 2 weeks, and it really hurts without that foodstamp card because we have barely any food right now. Looks like we will be eating a lot of rice in the next couple weeks. :(

  1. Update: My son, Jordan, just found my wallet in the toy box about an hour ago. Thanks kids! Makes my life easier knowing you want to hide mommy's important things!
