5 year old boy thing or something else?
My son Jordan is 5 years old. His kindergarten teacher doesn't think he was ready for kindergarten when I sent him to school. His birthday is on September 15, which happens to be the cut off day for school so I could've waited until next year to send him. We have been having monthly meetings about Jordan's behavior because he cannot keep his hands to himself at school and has a case of the wiggles.
I have been asking his doctor to test him for ADD, but she thought he had a hearing problem. We went to the doctor back and forth for about 4 months to get all the wax cleaned out and the day after Thanksgiving Jordan had surgery to get tubes in his ears. He still has the same problems. He wiggles too much and gives unnecessary hugs and wants to play when he needs to pay attention at school.
He has also sent home work that he had another child do for him, possibly because he is too lazy to do it. I know this because he told me that Madison drew his picture for him. I was so excited when he brought that picture home too, because I thought he learned how to draw overnight and was just hiding his talent. Nope. Why is he having other kids draw pictures and write his name for him?
He won't talk to me about school. Every time I ask him what he did in school, I get the same reply. "Nothing."
I get frustrated with Jordan's attitude because I have no idea what I am supposed to do. Is this something that he will grow out of? I really hope so because his doctor will not test him and always says the same thing when I bring up ADD......"Let's keep that in the back of our minds."
By the way, Jordan's cousin has ADHD and I was told by my therapist that I have ADD, but I know how to control it. Jordan's cousin Dillon shares a lot of genetics with him since my sister is his mother and his father is actually Jordan's uncle. Yes, sisters and brothers.....
If anyone has any advice, I would really appreciate some comments on this post! Thank you!
